All the Rage

Some sketchbook drawings. Getting to the end of this one soon, I'm literally thinking of posting every single page just to see what I'd consider worth keeping. And get a better opinion on my own work.

One drawing here is an Ivy inspired Bruce Timm sketch for our artist profile we do in character design, originally I drew her nude to honor his pin up style, but our teacher is pretty against that kind of stuff in first year.

Also, that's my friends picachu dying, because she failed as a trainer. I was challenged to draw it really, I didn't have any real reason to. Not that one needs a reason to draw ;).

See yeah next time around.

Octopus Animation!

Bam! Pow! Splat!

First animation assignment at Sheridan I'm sort of happy with. Hope the ball keeps rolling and I keep getting better. Let me know your thoughts!

The Inmates are Loose

Here is a step by step *(2 hours already in from first image), one image per hour, recording of my 5th animation layout assignment (master copy of a real layout). I chose this from the Batman: The Animated Series. This series summed up my career decision pretty quick as a kid. I was either going to become Batman, or draw Batman. So far, I'm not sporting any tights or armour, but I have been taking a stab at that drawing thing for awhile now. That brings us here, to the "painting" portion of animation. I will say it, I suck at painting. It is not a strong suit, point, or even skill I currently have up my sleeve. I have to say though, at least with this painting, it seems I'm getting better, or at least getting an idea of where to start.

Here are the images in sequence, from blocking in to finish. Let me know your thoughts, feedback, etc. I'd like to know what I should work on and what (if any) looks right.

Rejected Character design pages, Layout Assignment #2,and a few other things that just won't do.

Character design thumbnails, layout assignment 2 drawings, and a few sketchbook pages.

Sorry updates aren't as frequent as I hoped, but I'm going to at least stick to once a month.

cheers all,

Watch the World Burn

Gotham esk city ELS for Layout class (that's extreme long shot for those non animators/film makers out there).

A few Character Designs of some of Batman's Rogue Gallery.

A Character Design for my action pose assignment for Character Design Class (not specific enough?). It's take your kid to work day...twist is,Daddy's a mobster. My action poses are hilarious and full of cartoon violence. They will be posted next week. For now, the second preliminary drawing I did for the father son duo.

That's all for now one and all kiddies,

Invert this!

This is a rough character turnaround I'm doing for class right now (it's actually due today). My 3/4 back view is missing, but the 3/4 front view is duplicated...thanks photoshop?

I like the inverted look, make the underlying shape more present.

I'll post the finished copies after I get the assignment back.

cheers

And here we ...go

So first year is off in full swing, and after a rough start ( I moved during the first week of class, don't ever do that), I'm off to the races with Sheridan's program. So far, I'm noticing it's very open. In saying that,I mean they give you assignments and let you role with them, but they do tell you what "they" would change/fix.

In terms of animation, shoot it,make it functional. I'm actually surprised at how well I'm doing at plotting out the animations so far (bouncing ball, bowling ball, balloon, and pendulum), I did hit some snags though.

I'll post work during the reading week, and I'm going to use Thursday's to post as least a few things a week. I want this blog to stay alive, and full of life!

It's 3:11am though,so off to finish some painting work for now.

Until next time,

-Dane
